New Server, nearly there

After many broken parts, returns and replacements, the new server actually seems to be finally running. The new server (still to be named), is a powerful beast which huge storage capacity!, and should be a nice addition to Minds hardware.

2x 1.8Ghz Dual core Amd Opetrons
4 GB ram
4x 400GB SATA 3Gbit/sec drives(yes that is 1.6TB!!)
2x 1Gbit network cards
500+ watt power supply
And as Nigel put it - More fans than a jet engine.

Good work to Nigel and Luke who got the latest set of parts together, and confirmed it's finally working. We hope to have the server in use with the other servers soon.

Fairs Day Over, Events Begin!

New College Year!

Firstly welcome back to all minds members. As new year starts off, we are hoping to have a much more active society than we had last year, starting with regular events and thinking outside of the box, and hosting more than just tutorials( or so we hope!!). With fairs day coming up next wednesday we need a better plan for the year to attract our new first years, but also leave space for the fresh minds to make suggestions for our old minds.

Well as you all know trying to do this has been hard, with old troublesome hardware, breaking and failing with no warning, and new troublesome hardware just refusing to work outright, but we are getting there slowly...(pesky....pesky...)

New Acting Committee

New Hard drives for BiPolar

To help MiNDs expand, 1.2TBs of Hard drive space has been bought for bipolar. Its not clear when the new drives will be installed, but the admins are currently working out a strategy for the upgrade.
