Minds Talk - BCI Wednesday 21st November 2007

Fiachra Matthews is currently working as a researcher in the Hamilton Institute in the area of Brain Computer Interfacing(BCI). He will be giving a talk into light aspects of his work, and the areas where BCI is advancing and is of huge benefit to people. Minds LAN - Saturday & Sunday 16th & 17th November 2007

The very first LAN of the student year. To put it simply, just bring your own PC or laptop, and network cables. Setup is in the morning of each day, and then everyone begins to proceeds in blowing each other up. There is some more information and a general guideline to the day on our wiki

Starting with Nigel Hanlon giving an introductory talk on how to use minds, great for those new users who are having difficulty with their new minds account!

Des Traynor - "Best practices for developing successful websites"
Des Traynor is a graduate of Maynooth and is widely published in the field of Computer Science Education. He currently works as one of only a handful of senior usability analysts in Ireland in iQcontent. In short, he takes hard to use, badly designed websites, and makes them work properly. This talk will highlight the worst mistakes people make when creating websites, show some horror stories, and hopefully allow you to build better websites.

Fairs Day - Wednesday 3rd October 2007


Fairs Day is next wednesday! So call in and renew your membership. Be sure to encourage our lovely new first years to come along and sign up. Donations wanted to pay some girls to stand around our table... (pesky lack of girls.....)

Minds Talk - Rapid Web Development Tuesday 3rd April

Maynooth graduate Vishal Vatsa will be giving a talk on Rapid Web Development in Python using the Django framework. He will share his experiences on using the framework to build the NUI Maynooth Clubs and Socs voting system. Starting with a brief introduction to Python, he will discuss rapid, standards based, web development, proper templating, database integration and how it is all brought together.

Vishal works for Proplyon, Irelands leading legislature software company. Proplyon has positions available for graduates in Summer 2007 (see Propylon.com).
